Abundant Grace

 Grâce en abondance

We are all aware that Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar was and is impacting the lives of people in myriads of ways. The people become aware of Yogiji's grace when the impact dramatically changes their lives. Some of these incidents were happily being exchanged one evening and I would like to share some of these with the readers who are eager, nay thirsty, to learn more and more of Bhagavan's Leelas.

The anniversary of Kumbhabhishekam was celebrated in June 2008. One of the visitors was seen to be emotionally stirred. He said that Yogi Ramsuratkumar has had a decisive influence on his life and has helped and guided him on innumerable occasions. The devotee, Shri Tirumurti had been a devotee of Swami Gnanananda Giri of Thapovanam. He had darshan of Yogi Ramsuratkumar at Tapovanam on several occasions. After the Maha Samadhi of Swami Gnanananda Giri he came to have darshan of Yogi Ramsuratkumar at his Sannadhi Street abode at Tiruvannamalai. Smt. Tirumurti was pregnant at the time. Glancing at her Yogi Ramsuratkumar said that the child has had the blessings of a mahatma and would lead a blessed life.
Husband wife were mystified that an unborn child could have received the blessings of a mahatma but later recollected that the lady had a darshan of Swami Gnanananda Giri soon after the child was conceived.

Some year later, when the child was about three years old the couple again came to Tiruvannamalai for darshan of Yogi Ramsuratkumar. Bhagavan showed extraordinary kindness to the child, seating him next to himself, caressing him while blessing the parents as well. Bhagavan then took a plantain, peeled it and started feeding the child. The mother was horrified and attempted to explain to Yogi Ramsuratkumar that the little boy was allergic to plantains. She was about to shout a warning when her husband restrained her saying that they should not interfere in the mahatma's work.

Yogi Ramsuratkumar fed the child three plantains, one after the other, and the child showed no signs of allergy. -The happy parents went back and were delighted to find that the child was no longer allergic to plantains. The parents had not given any information about the child's allergy to plantains, but Bhagavan had effected a complete cure! He has again and again proved that he bestows on us that which is required, nothing more, nothing less. May we learn to receive everything as His Grace.

The popular Tamil writer Shri Balakumaran is widely read, especially by the younger generation which is captivated by his acute perception and easy style. After his darshan of Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Shri Balakumaran has written novels wherein Bhagavan and his teachings find a place and this has affected many persons. One of the instances was narrated.

A young man had completed his collegiate education but was jobless for a long time. His collegiate friends continued to interact with him for sometime but as time went on they dropped him, presumably because of his penniless state. One day he found that he was deserted by all of them. The youth was in despair, went home and cried far into the night. He recollected Balakumaran's novel in which Yogi Ramsuratkumar's kindness and grace gave new life to the characters, and the narration of the efficacy of pronouncing the name even once. He resolved that night that he would chant the name and pray to Yogi Ramsuratkumar everyday.

Within a week the conditions changed completely. He had secured a job, and in great elation he called upon a photographer to supply him with a picture of Yogi Ramsuratkumar so that he could continue his worship of Yogi Ramsuratkumar with a better picture. But more was to come. By the time he came to pick up the picture he had already got a promotion and posted to a place near the home of the photographer!

Within a month more blessings poured. This time he got work in Hydrabad with double the salary. By this time all his relatives had become devotees of Yogi Ramsuratkumar - how he must have sung Bhagavan's praises! - and orders were placed on the photographer friend for more pictures of Bhagavan!
A similar tale was told of a flour mill owner in Chennai who was benefited by Bhagavan's grace which pulled him up from the depths of despair.

An interesting episode was narrated relating to both Swami Gnanananda Giri of Tapovanam and Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar. A devotee of Swami Gnanananda Giri had gone to Tapovanam to have darshan of the mahatma when a strange spectacle met his eyes, a two year old child was crying piteously. The mother was pleading with Swamiji to help stop the child cry. She said the child had not stopped crying since birth and her existence was extremely miserable, since she could do nothing - absolutely nothing, to stop the crying. Swami Gnanananda Giri meditated for a while and told her to bear with patience for a little longer and that the child would stop crying on its own and she would also reach a state of no rebirth.

The woman in her agony burst out that she did not mind any number of rebirths so long as the child stopped crying now - swamiji again told her to be patient but then the woman said that if the Swamiji was unable to help her she would strangle the child on the way back and also commit suicide.

Swamiji then put the child on his lap and slapped the child hard several times, making the child cry even more piteously. Then he held up the child by its legs and gave it a vigorous shake. And there the crying stopped instantly and the child sat up laughing. The onlookers were stunned; the relieved mother thanked the Swami profusely, repeatedly prostrated before him and took leave with his blessings.

Our friend, a stunned observer, also prepared to leave but Swami Gnanananda Giri asked him to sit down and directed that he could leave the next day. This friend was unable to fathom the reason but stayed on till the next day, when Swami Gnanananda Giri gave him leave to go back. He also told him, 'When you go out you will find a person sitting under the tree. You prostrate to him and then leave.'

Our friend came out and sure enough there was a man sitting under a tree. A man in dirty clothes, unkempt appearance and smoking! He thought that the mahatma to whom Swami Gnanananda Giri asked him to prostrate must have left and this dirty beggar must have come and sat here. So he ignored the man and went off.

And thereby hangs a tale. The friend fell very ill with a kidney infection and to this day he is unable to get a cure for it but continuous to suffer. Belatedly he has realized that ' the dirty beggar ' that he saw under the tree at Tapovanam is none other than Yogi Ramsuratkumar, our beloved Lord, whom the sagacious Swami Gnanananda Giri knew would avert his possible misfortune! And our friend had missed this golden opportunity.

Our beloved Lord plays many leelas and the least is his appearance of ' dirty beggar ' which misleads people into believing that the oddity of the appearance reflects the real!
