Sri Ramachandra Iyer et sa femme Smt. Anasuya résidaient à Tiruvaiyaru dans les années 50 et au début des années 60. Ils vivaient sur la Rajavîdi près du Theradi l'abri dans lequel le char du temple était rangé) dans une maison à deux étages. Ils avaient deux fils, le plus jeune appelé Ravichandran qui était un ami intime de Sri Balachandran de Mambalam, Chennai.

Sri Balachandran a dit que c'était Ravichandran qui l'avait emmené à un darshan de Yogi Ramsuratkumar et qui l'avait présenté.

Balachandran a commencé ses visites à Tiruvannamalai où il rencontrait Bhagavan avec sa famille. Il se souvient que son père, devenu un grand dévot, emmenait des chapatis et du sabji à Bhagavan, que Bhagavan acceptait.

Lors de ses années de parivrajaka, entre 1952 et 1959, Bhagavan s'est aussi rendu à Tiruvaiyaru. Sri Ramachandra Iyer lui a donné une chambre au premier étage de sa maison. Bhagavan pouvait aller et venir à Sa guise.

Il prenait son café du matin préparé avec amour par Smt. Anasuya et quittaitla maison pour revenir dans l'après-midi pour le déjeuner. Il prenait son bain quotidien à la Kaveri et se rendait au temple de Panchanadishvarar qui possède un Sahasra lingam (un millier de lingams sculptés dans un seul grand lingam). Il restait assis pendant des heures en contemplation. À propos de la Kaveri, Bhagavan a fait remarquer plus tard à cet écrivain que, lorsqu'il marchait sur les rives de la Kaveri, il avait le sentiment de se trouver sur les rives de la Ganga.

Il s'est rendu au samadhi de Sri Thyagaraja et à tous les autres endroits importants à Tiruvaiyaru et dans les environs. Il est resté un mois à cet endroit.

On peut voir ici une photo du temple d'Abhishta Varada Maha Ganapati, près de là où Il séjournait, et une du bassin du temple. Il y a également des photos d'un temple de Shiva qui se trouve à proximité, l'Agastya Tirtam, etc., que Bhagavan fréquentait lors de sa visite à Ganapathi Agraharam. Ganapathi Agrahararn est le village natal de Sri Ramachandra Iyer.

La relation de Bhagavan avec Ramachandra Iyer et Anasuya ne s'est pas terminée avec Tiruvaiyaru. Ils ont déménagé à Mylapore, Chennai, au début des années soixante. Il semble que Bhagavan soit resté quelques semaines dans leur résidence de la rue Appu Mudali, séjour dont un compte rendu a déjà été publié dans un précédent numéro de Saranagatam. Leur fille Gayatri, alors dans son adolescence, apprenait le Bharatânatyam et Bhagavan avait l'habitude de regarder ses leçons. Il a accompagné la famille à Ganapathi Agraharam pour l'Arangetram de Gayatri et Il a également accompagné la famille lors de leurs visites à plusieurs endroits, y compris à Chidambaram, où Gayatri a eu l'occasion de donner une représentation devant le Seigneur Nataraja, la déité qui préside au temple de Chidambaram.

Bhagavan a assisté à une série de conférences de Sri J. Krishnamurti à la Société Théosophique.

C'est probablement au cours de cette période que Yogi Ramsuratkumar a rencontré J. Krishnamurti pour la première fois. Bhagavan se tenait près de l'entrée de Vasant Vihar dans l'espoir de voir J. Krishnamurti, lorsque le préposé l'informa que J. Krishnamurti s'était retiré pour se reposer et qu'il n'était pas disponible. Mais à ce moment précis J. Krishnamurti a descendu les escaliers et s'est mis devant Bhagavan. Bhagavan, en toute humilité, a essayé de se prosterner mais J. Krishnamurti l'a tenu par les épaules. Selon Bhagavan, il s'est endormi - sa manière de transmettre le fait qu'Il avait atteint un état de samadhi.

Cela a été une période où Il passait de nombreuses heures à la Société à se pencher sur les textes théosophiques et probablement à rencontrer le président de la Société théosophique, Sri N. Sri Ram, avec lequel une précieuse amitié s'est tissée.

Sri Ramachandra Iyer and his wife Smt. Anasuya were residents of Tiruvaiyaru in the 1950's and early 1960's. They lived on the Rajavîdi near the Theradi (the shed in which the temple car was housed) in a two storyed house. They had two sons, the younger one called Ravichandran who was a close friend of Shri Balachandran of Mambalam, Chennai.

Sri Balachandran said that it was Ravichandran who took him for a darshan of Yogi Ramsuratkumar and introduced him.

Balachandran began his visits to Tiruvannamalai where he met Bhagawan together with his family. He recollected that his father, who became a great devotee, used to take chapathis and sabji to Bhagawan which was accepted by Him.

Bhagawan during his parivrajaka days between 1952 and 1959 had also visited Tiruvaiyaru. Sri Ramachandra Iyer gave Him a room on the first floor of his house. Bhagawan could come and go as He liked.

He would take his morning coffee lovingly prepared by Smt. Anasuya and leave the house to return in the afternoon for lunch. He had his daily bath in the Kaveri and would go to the Panchanadeeswarar Terrrple which has a Sahasra lingam (a thousand lingams carved into one large lingam). He would sit for hours in contemplation. About the Kaveri, Bhagawan later remarked to this writer that when He walked on the banks of the Kaveri, He felt that He was on the banks of the Ganga.

He had visited the samadhi of Sri Tiyagraja, and all the other important places in and around Tiruvaiyaru. He had stayed for a month in this place.

A picture of the temple of Abhishta Varada Maha Ganapathi, near the place of His stay, and the temple tank, are shown here. There are also pictures of a nearby Shiva temple, Agastya Teertham etc., which were frequented by Bhagawan during His visit to Ganapathi Agraharam. Ganapathi Agrahararn was the native villarge of Sri Ramachandra Iyer.

Bhagawan's connection with Ramachandra Iyer and Anasuya did not end with Tiruvaiyaru. They had shifted to Mylapore, Chennai in the early sixties. It appears rhat Bhagawan stayed at their Appu Mudali Street residence for a few weeks, an account of which has already appeared in an earlier issue of Saranagatham. Their daughter Gayathri, then stepping into her teens, was learning Bharatânatyam, and Bhagawan used to watch her lessons. He accompanied the family to Ganapathi Agraharam for Gayatri's Arangetram and also accompanied the family as they visited several places including Chidambararn, where Gayatri had the opportunity to perform before Lord Nataraja, the presiding deity at the Chidambaram temple.

Bhagawan had attended a series of lectures by Sri J. Krishnamurti at the Theosophical Society.

It must have been during this period that Yogi Ramsuratkumar had His first meeting with J. Krishnamurti. Bhagawan was standing near the entrance of Vasant Vihar hoping to see J. Krishnamurti when the attendant informed Him that J. Krishnamurti had retired.for rest and would not be available. But that very moment J. Krishnamurti descended the stairs and stood before Bhagawan. Bhagawan, in all humility tried to prostrate but J. Krishnamurti held Him by the shoulders. According to Bhagawan, He went to sleep - His way of conveying that He reached a samadhi state.

This was the period of many hours spent in the Society poring over the Theosophical texts and probably meeting with the President of the Theosophical Society Sri N. Sri Ram, with whom a valuable friendship was made.
