On n'entend rien.

At the feet of my Master

Excerpts from Krishna's notes (taken on the spot)

16th December, 1996

Morning darshan.-

At the entrance gate of the Ashram, a man is in a rolling chair. He cannot move. One of the persons who have come with him is even obliged to keep his head straight.

As soon as we see the car going towards the darshan hall, Chettiar and i look at it happily. Mario is here. I am called and Yogiji, after anjali, makes a sign instructing me to go and sit on the mat. Then, women come hin, then the men.

When everybody is inside, Yogiji calls Selvaraj and asks questions. Then, Selvaraj makes the person who is seated on the rolling chair come in and he is installed near a pillar. Like this, his head can rest on it. Now and then, his friend holds it up. Yogiji calls this friend and asks him what is the name of the sick person, what he was doing (engineer at such place), etc... Another person, who knows better about his health, is called. Yogiji tells him that he must answer to the first person who, after, will answer Him (indirect conversation, as very often). He inquires about the date when the sickness appeared, in which way, etc.. First, this man lost the ability to speak, then the movement of his members. Of course, i think of my father... After a short time, Yogiji says :

" This beggar cannot do anything for him. "

Silence. Then, after a another time :

" 'This beggar will pray his Father' for his health recovery and ... by my Father's grace, he will be alright."

Then, in the audience, the hands of the relatives rise above the heads. i have tears in my eyes. What a compassion! Then, these men go back to their seats and soon, with Selvaraj's help , Yogiji stands up and goes to the sick man who is still seated there in his rolling chair against the pillar. I can see his face beaming when he sees Yogiji coming to him. Yogiji touches his heads, his shoulders, his knees and this arms. He asks him what his name is, but the man is unable to answer loudly. It is impossible to hear anything. Yogji comes back and seats again at His place. Then he asks if John is there. Ma Devaki answers that John has left.

- An Italian was here, he says.

- Mario, Ma says. He is here.

Yogiji asks Sevaraj to install some chairs and tells me to go there, to sit and to speak with Mario. Mario tells me his story. A very beautiful story once more!

While we are speaking, Yogiji gets up and goes and sits near the sick man, touching him here and there. Another time, He goes to the bottom of the hall and sits with Parthiban and Mani.

...

While Mario and i are still speaking, Yogiji, from his seat, calls me through Selvaraj while Sudama sisters continue to sing in Tamil. He blesses me, smiles and asks to chant the Ramnam. So, i wait until the end of the song by the Sudama sisters and begin to sing. While i'm singing, Yogiji gets up again, goes to Mario and sits on the chair where i was before. i see that Mario frankly takes Yogiji's hand and they speak together. At a time, Yogiji calls me. So, I stop chanting and goes to sit by His side. He calls Rajeshvari who gets up and continues the Ramnam chanting.

- Yogiji : To morrow, this friend goes to Puttaparthi.

Yogiji takes my hand and holds Mario's hand. Suddenly, Mario takes off a bracelet from his right wrist and put it at Yogjiji's wrist, saying:

- Mario : I want to offer this to you.
- Yogiji : Is it in silver?
- Mario : Yes.
- Yogiji : What is the price ?
- Mario : ?
- Yogiji : Approximatly ? (i repeat the question to Mario)
- Mario : Around 20 dollars.
- Krishna : 20 dollars, Father (i quickly calculate: 20x5 = 100, 100x6 = 600). 600 rupees.

Yogiji takes off the bracelet and says, speaking of Mario's wrist:

- Yogiji : This beggar wants this to be here.
- Mario : Why?
- Yogiji : Hm ?
- Mario : Why?
- Because i'm here, says Yogiji while tapping Mario's shoulder...
