AIl through the ages, our Motherland, Punya Bharat, is very richly adorned with precious gems, dazzling jewels, in the form of Sages, Saints, Yogis, Maharishis and Siddha Purushas. Within the reach of one's memory, one can easily pluck the sacred names of Shirdi Sai Baba, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Mother Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Rama Thirtha, Seshadri Swani, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi, Sri Aurobindo, Swami Ramdas, Mother Krishnabai, Swami Nityananda, Jagadguru Sri Chandra sekhara Bharathi Swami of Sringeri, Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi Swami of Kanchi, Swami Gnanananda Giri, Narayana Guru, Ma Anandamayee Ma, J.Krishnamurthi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Koti Swami, Mother Mayee Ma, Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Mahatma Sri Sri Krishna Premi Maharaj, and countless other 'names' not mentioned here! Sages and Saints continue to bless humanity with their sanctifying presence, even to-day, and, most assuredly, in the future also. In that, every one of us and our descendants to come, are most fortunate, indeed!.
Once, I asked the great Siddha Purusha of our times, Yogi Ramsuratkumar: "Swami! The teachings of all great Sages, of ail times, are the same, namely, 'there is only one God', 'there is only one Truth'. Also, the essence of all Scriptures proclaims only this as the sole Reality. If so, then where is the need, where is the necessity for so many Sages, Saints and Scriptures? One Saint or one Scripture is enough to emancipate humanity! Isn't it?"
On listening to this, the compassionate Siddha Purusha, burst
into a soul-stirring laughter, and said:
What you say is true! India is the only country where Sages
and Saints abound, at all times! In the whole world, only in our
holy Motherland, you will see a chain of Sages and Saints taking
birth, throughout every century. Isn't it beautiful! Do you know
the reason for that? Because, the place where Sacred Vedas are
preserved is OUR (Sages) playground!
After uttering these profound declaration, he went into ecstasy and became speechless having been immersed in his mystical silence, for some time. Regaining his serenity, calmness and composure, slowly, he continued:
Truth needs to be seen, needs to be expressed in words, within the grasp and reach, immediacy and proximity of every common man. Scriptures do proclaim the hoary Truth, in abstruse, mystical "languages, which are beyond the acquisition of ordinary men folk. When a Saint adopts that Truth in his day-to-day living, people around him easily, not only understand it, but also are emboldened to feet that they too can attain the Truth!. That is how, when Adi Sankara came and declared the Vedic injunction: Aham Brahmasmi ('l am the Truth'), people gathered around him and experienced glimpses of the 'Truth, in his presence. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa came - intellectual giants, like Swami Vivekananda, saw 'God' in him. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi lived in our midst - Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni and others, saw right in front of them that Bhagavan Ramana was 'Brahman' alone, so vividly extolled in the Vedas. In the presence of Kanchi Paramacharya, even illiterates experienced the embodiment of Goddess Kamakshi. These Mahatmas lived and showed to humanity the reality of the Vedic Truth, through their impeccable lives. In such a Sage's life, Great Scriptures become alive! Thus, living in the proximity of a Saint, humanity's faith in the Truth, declared in the Scriptures, gets confirmed and deepened. To infuse this faith in fellow-beings, Sages have to be born, again and again!"
I was thrilled to listen to these Words of Wisdom, torrentially pouring forth from the holy lips of a 'Living' Saint! No wonder, all sorts of seekers after Truth, from ail over the world, flocked to Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar, for, they saw in him the magnanimity and piety of truthful living!
It is apt to quote here, the glorious declaration of Kanchi Paramacharya: "No religion, in this world, is accepted only by its doctrines. People do not much care for doctrines! When unbounded mercy, and meekness are observed in any great soul, people pay their homage to him and accept his teachings!
The continued Presence and Guidance of Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar
are tangibly felt even today, after he chose to drop the body,
more than a year ago, both at his Ashram in Agraharakollai, Tiruvannamalai
and in the residences of all his staunch devotees! Any sincere
seeker, who turns his attention within, will surely feel his Presence,
protecting and guiding the yearning seeker! Saints' live' eternally,
for they are the Truth! Truth has neither a beginning nor an end
