I had long back read at the entrance of a church that "compassion
is the capacity to put love into action". When I met YOGI
RAMSURATKUMAR for the first time at Thiruvannamalai, I could expérience
the meaning imprégnant in the above quote.
The normal tendency of human beings is to run-away from people
whose chips are down, when in fact they require compassion most.
Thanks to Mr.V.Ganesan and Anuradha of Ramanashram, I could get
to meet the Yogi every now and then, to get solace whenever I
was depressed due to vagaries of business fortune.
The Yogi could instantly transmit care, concern and empathy which
I had read that Mother Terassa could. The Yogi would not only
treat the devotee's problem as His own, but also participate in
solving the problem jointly to emancipate the problem-stricken
devotee. In a country like ours where there is so much disparity
in income and wealth distribution, if at all has not led to fascism
or communism it is perhaps due to the existence of divine leaders
like the Yogi who have made us understand and learn to witness
the ups and downs of life rather than own up success and failure.
It is said that you get the divine bliss even if one thinks of
Thiruvannamalai even if one does not really visit the place. From
time to time people like the Yogi add jewels in the Shrine Crown
of Thiravannamalai by continuously living there and not stirring
out. But the enormous number of Yogi's devotees have always felt
that there was not enough space to sometimes even have a glimpse
of the Yogi whenever they visit Him.
Thanks to the untiring efforts of people like Mr.Janardhan, there
is now the Ashram and abundant space. When you talk of space,
there is no gainsaying, that facilitating educational and medical
benefits to the common man has always drawn people to religion
closer than mere Theology. Converts from irreligion to religion,
is perhaps the need of the hour.
Though Yogi takes care of His devotees by re- mote control, even
though they are far and widespread, the new devotees need to be
a little pampered till such time they understand the care and
compassion that the Yogi exudes.
The uttering of Yogi's name instantly brings such solace and bliss
that one now understands that the greatest happiness in life is
so simple to achieve. One can never forget the "Yogi"
ladder when in flights of ecstasy.
