Shri Ganapati était un dévot de Shri Shri Gnanananda Giri Swami de Tapovanam. Visiteur fréquent, il avait l'habitude de voir Yogi Ramsuratkumar qui venait de temps en temps à Tapovanam. Il semblait y avoir une parfaite entente entre Shri Gnanananda et Yogiji. L'attention qu'ils se portaient l'un l'autre était telle que Ganapati prit conscience que l'étrange personnage vêtu comme une mendiant dissimulait un grand Mahatma et il se mit à l'adorer.

Gnanananda Giri Swami ordonna un jour au cuisinier de préparer quelque chose pour un visiteur qui pourrait apparaître vers minuit.

"Que vais-je cuisiner ? "
"Tout ce que tu aimes."

Quelque chose fut donc cuisiné et gardé prêt.

Vers 23h30, Swami Gnanananda appela Ganapati et lui dit : " Va ouvrir la grille, il y a un lion qui est assis dehors et qui a faim. Appele-le et donne-lui à manger. "

Intrigué, mais habitué à la phraséologie inhabituelle de Swami Gnanananda, Ganapati alla à la grille et y trouva Yogi Ramsuratkumar qui était assis. Dans un élan émotionnel, il se prosterna en criant en extase " Gnanananda ". Il fit entrer Yogiji et se sentit honoré de se voir confier la tâche de lui offrir à manger.

Un jour, alors que Yogi était à Tapovanam, Ganapati vint Le voir et prit congé le Lui en lui disant qu'il partait pour Madras (aujourd'hui Chennai) le lendemain pour célébrer la cérémonie de la Shraadha de son père disparu. Yogiji dit : " J'irai chez vous demain." Ganapati partit pour Madras et il fut surpris le lendemain de trouver Yogiji à sa porte !

Il prit des dispositions pour faire cuisiner de la nourriture séparément pour Yogiji (du fait que les gens n'aiment pas prendre la nourriture préparée lors des cérémonies annuelles pour se concilier les morts). Yogiji dit : " Non, ne préparez pas de nourriture spéciale, ce mendiant va s'asseoir à la place réservée à la Feuille de Vishnu. ". Quel fort étrange et grand honneur ! Et la manière dont il a tout de suite fait connaître qu'Il n'était nul autre que Vishnu !

Un jour, Ganapati est venu à la résidence de Bhagavan dans Sannadhi street et est resté avec lui plusieurs heures. Dans la soirée, Yogiji a dit qu'il devait partir mais Il a demandé à Ganapati de rester sur place.

- Connaissez-vous le Vishnu Sahasranamam ?
- Oui Swami.
- Commencez à réciter le Vishnu Sahasra namam après le départ de ce mendiant. Il pourrait y avoir des serpents mais n'ayez pas peur. Continuez simplement à réciter le Sahasranamam jusqu'à ce que ce mendiant revienne.

Alors Ganapati s'est assis et il a commencé à chanter le Sahasranama. Bientôt, il s'est mis à entendre des sifflements. Il transpirait et tremblait, mais il s'est souvenu du conseil de Yogiji, qui était aussi une assurance, et il a continué de chanter le Sahasranama. Quelque temps après, les bruits se sont calmés mais il a continué à chanter jusqu'au retour du " mendiant ". C'était un Ganapati en larmes et ému qui a accueilli Yogiji qui a dissipé toutes ses peurs avec son rire d'enfant.

Ganapati a plus tard déduit qu'il devait y avoir un certain Naga Dosham (un péché encouru en blessant des serpents) qui avait été dissipé par l'intervention de Bhagavan.

Shri Ganapati was a devotee of Shri Shri Gnanananda Giri Swami of Tapovanam. As a frequent visitor, he used to see Yogi Ramsuratkumar who came to Tapovanam now and then. There appeared to be a perfect understanding between Shri Gnanananda and Yogiji, such was the care with which they moved with each other Ganapati realized that the oddly dressed beggar like figure concealed a great Mahatma and began to adore him.

Once Gnanananda Giri Swami ordered the cook to keep something ready for a visitor who might appear around midnight.

"What shall I cook?"
"Whatever you like."

So something was cooked and kept ready.

Around 11.30 P.M. Swami Gnanananda called Ganapati and said " Go open the gate; there is a lion sitting outside who is hungry. You call him and feed him."

Puzzled, but used to Swami Gnanananda's unusual phraseology, Ganapati went to the gate and
found Yogi Ramsuratkumar sitting there. In an emotional outburst he prostrated, shouting in ecstasy "Gnanananda." He brought Yogiji in and felt honoured to be entrusted with the task of offering Him food.

Once when Yogi was in Tapovanam, Ganapati came to Him and took leave of Him saying that he was leaving for Madras (now Chennai) the next day in order to perform the Shraadha ceremony of his departed father. Yogiji said, "I am coming to your house tomorrow." Ganapati left for Madras and the next day was astounded to find Yogiji at his door!

He made arrangements to cook food separately for Yogiji (since people do not like to partake the food prepared in the annual ceremonies to propitiate the dead). Yogiji said "No, don't prepare special food, this beggar will sit in the place meant for Vishnu Leaf'. How very strange and great an honour! And how He straightaway conveyed that He is none other than Vishnu Himself'!

One day Ganapati had come to Bhagawan's Sannadhi Street abode and was with him for several hours. In the evening, Yogiji said he had to leave but instructed Ganapati to remain there.

"Do you know Vishnu Sahasranamam?"
"Yes Swami."

"You start reciting Vishnu Sahasra namam after this beggar leaves. There may be some snakes but don't be afraid. Just continue to chant the Sahasranamam till this beggar returns.

So Ganapati sat there and began chanting the Sahasranama. Soon he began hearing hissing noises. He was sweating and trembling but remembered Yogiji's advice, which was also an assurance, and continued to chant the Sahasranama. Sometime later the noises subsided but he continued to chant until the 'beggar' returned. It was a tearful and emotional Ganapati who greeted Yogiji who dispelled all his fears with His childlike laughter.

Ganapati later inferred that there must have been some Naga Dosham (a sin incurred by hurting snakes) which had been dispelled by Bhagawan's intervention.
