De nombreux officiers de haut rang figurent parmi les dévots de Yogi Ramsuratkumar. Il existe des exemples dans lesquels le Maître les a aidés à solutionner certains de leurs difficiles problèmes , facilitant de ce fait leur travail officiel et favorisant le bien public. Dans ce contexte, nous avons tendance à rappeler les références fréquentes de Bhagavan au "travail de Son Père". Peut-être ce travail mystérieux inclut-il Son intervention divine pour le bien-être de l'humanité, exécutée subtilement au travers de tels officiers.

Shri V. Ramanujachari, ancien Directeur (Finance) de SAIL, NLC et ONGC avait déjà eu de riches expériences de la grâce du guru avec de rencontrer Yogi Ramsuratkumar. Car il était profondément impliqué avec Sadguru Gnanananda Giri de Tirukoilur. Il était en fait l'un des principaux architectes de l'œuvre classique "Saduguru Gnanananda", sur la vie et les enseignements de ce grand Maître. Il y a environ 4 décennies, à la fin des années 60, c'est lors d'une de ses visites régulières à Gnanananda Tapovanam, l'Ashram de son Guru, qu'il a eu le premier Darshan de Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar. Ce fut en fait une rencontre accidentelle - une rencontre aussi accidentelle que n'importe quelle rencontre des nombreux dévots qui tous les jours recherchaient les bénédictions de Sadguru Gnanananda. Là, à cette époque, il n'était pas rare de repérer aussi des gens étranges parmi les visiteurs de l'Ashram. Le Yogi, avec sa manière non conventionnelle de se vêtir et son apparence bizarre pouvait facilement passer pour l'un d'entre eux. Il n'est pas étonnant que Shri Ramanujachari n'ait pas particulièrement remarqué le Sadhu alors qu'il faisait d'abord le tour du temple avec ses propres pensées monotones qui vagabondaient dans sa tête.

Mais au cours de son deuxième parcours, il fut frappé par la présence captivante du Yogi qui regardait alors droit devant lui. Shri Ramanujachari ne put s'empêcher de se demander ce qu'Il regardait. Il regarda alors dans la même direction et il prit conscience que les yeux du saint étaient collés à une image de Sri Rama sur le mur derrière l'image de Sri Krishna au temple de Gnanavenugopala. Son visage montrait qu'il était plongé dans une profonde contemplation. Shri Ramanujachari termina son parcours et retourna vers le Sadhu à l'étrange apparence qui était assis là sur le sol comme avant, appuyé contre le mur d'enceinte de l'Ashram, une jambe allongée entièrement et l'autre pliée au genou avec les mains jointes dans un geste fortuitement dévotionnel. Sa concentration semblait encore se faire sur l'image du Seigneur Sri Rama.

(Cette peinture exquise de Sri Rama a une signification inoubliable pour Shri Ramanujachari. C'est en face d'elle que quelques années plus tard, Swami réalisa une guérison miraculeuse de sa femme Smt. Lalitha. Elle était affectée d'une infection urinaire chronique. La souffrance de presque cinq années l'avait rendue extrêmement faible. Après avoir essayé en vain différentes sortes de traitements, lors de l'une de ses visites à Swami en compagnie de son mari, Il lui demanda de faire des allées et venues sur une distance d'environ 30 mètres entre Lui et le mur d'enceinte du temple. Après être resté à Tapovanam pendant environ trois semaines, le couple retourna chez lui, et en une semaine, à leur grande surprise, ils prirent conscience que l'affection harcelante de Smt. Lalitha lui avait dit adieu !)

Pour Shri Ramanujachari, il n'y avait rien de particulièrement remarquable chez le Yogi qui semblait juste être un dévots parmi les centaines d'aures qui rendaient visite à Sadguru Gnanananda. Il s'assit pourtant près de Lui sur le sol, sans lui demander Sa permission. Aucune parole de fut dite. Un moment paisible, silencieux et profond s'écoula. Comme pour briser ce charme de silence, Shri Varadarajan, dévot distingué de Sadguru Gnanananda et mari de Smt. Radha, s'approcha du swami en souriant. Le swami se leva et ils sortirent tous les deux. Shri Ramanujachari se retrouva seul pour se demander où le charmant couple s'en allait. Il découvrit bientôt qu'ils étaient dehors pour jouir d'une "sainte cigarette", car fumer était interdit dans les limites du temple. La découverte ne provoqua aucune vague en lui, car il se souvint avoir lu que le grand guru Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa aimait son tabac.

Bien qu'il n'y ait eu ce jour-là aucun échange entre eux, Shri Ramanujachari développa une sorte de penchant et d'affection pour le swami sans en connaître aucune raison. Lors de la rencontre qui suivit, il continua de se demander pourquoi le Swami versait tant de "Prema" sur lui et sur sa femme - un amour et une affection déraisonnables, incommensurables et intenses qui les ensevelissait. A chaque fois qu'ils prenaient congé de Lui après une visite, Il les bénissait si profusément qu'ils se sentaient de plus en plus redevables envers Lui. En s'efforçant de trouver une explication à son penchant mystérieux pour Bhagavan lors de la première rencontre et après, Shri Ramanujachari déclare :

"Je L'ai aimé alors, non pas parce qu'Il était au-delà des amours et des haines derrière la façade de la réaction humaine ordinaire - Oh non ! J'en suis venu à le comprendre bien plus tard; non pas parce que je pensais qu'Il était sans ego, toutes les actions lui venant spontanément - Oh non ! A cette époque je ne pouvais pas voir à travers Ses actions; non pas parce que je pensais qu'Il était profondément impliqué dans 'Pranapanagati' - Oh non ! Je ne savais rien du Pranayama décrit dans la Gita (Ch. IV, 29); non pas parce qu'Il était au-delà de l'attraction et de la répulsion, bien qu'il semblât en être ainsi - Oh non ! Je ne pouvais pas mesurer Ses profondeurs; non pas parce qu'Il n'était pas contaminé par l'avarice et l'accumulation de biens matériels - Oh non ! Je pensais même que c'était sa faiblesse; non pas parce que Son mental n'était jamais distrait par Son bien-aimé Sri Rama - Oh non ! Je ne connaissais pas alors l'intensité de son amour pour Son Sri Rama; non pas parce que derrière l'apparence extérieure d'anxiété, d'espoir et de souci Il était fermement établi dans la paix, la tranquillité et l'équanimité suprêmes qui venaient de Son abandon total au Seigneur - Oh non ! J'en suis venu à connaître cela seulement lorsque le Dr T.P. Minakshisundaram a parlé de ce grand talent et plus tard à partir de ma propre expérience; mais parce qu'Il était doux, amical et qu'il venait avec nous, comme s'Il était l'un de nous, sans faire de manières au sujet de Sa spiritualité !"

Cette manoeuvre non verbale et apparemment accidentelle de la Grâce montre que ce n'est pas un miracle, mais le charme subtil de bénédiction de Bhagavan qui a attiré Shri Ramanujachari. Une compassion infinie, un altruisme absolu et un amour spontané, total, sans attachement, et la présence qui diffusait la paix et qui apportait le soulagement sont certains aspects de son charme. Il y a eu des occasions où le Maître a virtuellement envoyé chercher Shri Ramanujachari, alors que ses visites étaient peu fréquentes du fait de la pression du travail. Le travail d'un Guru se faisant à la base sur l'âme du dévot, nous avons naturellement tendance à admirer la qualité de l'âme qui est envoyée chercher.

A number of high ranking officers are among the devotees of Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar. There are instances in which the Master had helped them solve some of their tangled problems, thereby facilitating their official work and promoting public welfare. In this context, we tend to recall Bhagavan's frequent references to His "Father's work". Perhaps, this mysterious work included His divine intervention for the welfare of humanity, subtly executed through such officers.

Shri V. Ramanujachari, former Director (Finance) of SAIL, NLC and ONGC had already had rich experience of guru's grace, before he met Yogi Ramsuratkumar. For he as deeply involved in Sadguru Gnanananda Giri of Tirukoilur. In fact, he was one of the chef architects of the classic work, "Saduguru Gnanananda", on the life and teachings of that great Master. About 4 decades ago, in the late 1960's he was on one of his regular visits to Gnanananda Tapovanam, his Guru's Ashram, when he had the first Darshan of Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar. It was, in fact, a casual meeting - as casual meeting as any of the numerous devotees who sought the blessings of Sadguru Gnanananda every day. There, in those days, it wa not uncommon to spot some weird people also among the visitors of the Ashram. The Yogi, with his unconventional mode of dressing and outlandish appearance, could easily pass for one of them. No wonder; Shri Ramanujachari did not take particular notice of the Sadhu, as he first went round the temple, with his own humdrum thoughts rambling across his mind.

However, during his second perambulation he was struck by the captivating presence of the Yogi, who was then looking straight ahead. Shri Ramanujachari could not help wondering what He was staring at. So, he also looked in the same direction and realized that the saint's eyes were glued to a picture of Sri Rama on the wall behind the image of Sri Krishna at the temple of Gnanavenugopala. His face showed that he was immersed in deep contemplation. Shri Ramanujachari completed his perambulation and came back to the odd-looking Sadhu, who was sitting there on the floor as before, leaning against the compound wall of the Ashram, with one leg stretched out fully and the other bent at the knee and hands joined together in a casual devotional gesture. His concentration still appeared to be on the picture of Lord Sri Rama.

(This exquisite painting of Sri Rama is of unforgettable significance to Shri Ramanujachari. It was in front of this that some years later, Swami brought off a miracle cure to his wife Smt. Lalitha. She was afflicted with chronic urinary infection. The suffering of about five years had made her extremely weak. After trying different kinds of treatment in vain, during one of her visits to Swami with her husband, she was asked to walk up and down the distance of about 100 feet between Him and the compound wall of the temple. After staying at Tapovanam, for about three weeks, the couple returned home, and within a week, to their pleasant surprise, they realized that the nagging ailment of Smt. Lalitha had bidden good-bye to her!)

To Shri Ramnujachari, there was nothing singularly spectacular about the swami, who appeared to be just one of the hundreds of devotees who used to visit Sadguru Gnanananda. Yet, he sat beside Him on the floor, without seeking His permission. No words were spoken. A few peaceful, silent and deep moment passed by. As if to break this spell of silence, Shri Varadarajan, a distinguished devotee of Sadguru Gnanananda and the husband of Smt. Radha, approached the swami, smiling. The swami got up and both of them went out together. Shri Ramanujachari was left alone to wonder where the goodly pair was going. Soon he found out that they were out to enjoy a "holy smoke", as smoking was prohibited within the precincts of the temple. The discovery did not cause any ripple inn him, as he remembered having read that the great guru Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa loved his tobacco.

Though there was no verbal transaction between them on that day, Shri Ramanujachari developed a kind of liking and affection for the swami, without any reason known to him. In the meeting that followed, he kept wondering why Swami plied him and his wife with so much of 'Prema' - unreasonable, immeasurable and intense love and affection, which overwhelmed them. Every time they took leave of Him, after a visit, He blessed them so profusely, that they felt more and more beholden to Him. In an effort to find an explanation for this own mysterious liking for Bhagavan at the first meeting and thereafter, Shri Ramanujachari declares,

"I liked Him then, not because He was beyond likes and dislikes, behind the façade of ordinary human reaction - Oh no! I came to understand that much later; not because I thought He was egoless, all actions proceeding spontaneously from Him - Oh no! I couldn't see through His actions at that time; not because I thought He was deeply involved in 'Pranapanagati' - Oh no! I knew nothing about Pranayama described in the Gita (Ch. IV,29); not because He was beyond attraction and aversion, although He seemed to be so - Oh no! I couldn't gauge those depths of His; not because He was not poisoned by avarice and the accumulation of worldly belongings - Oh no! I even thought it as his weakness; not because His mind was never distracted by His beloved Sri Rama - Oh no! I did not know the intensity of His love for His Sri Rama then; not because behind the outward appearance of anxiety, hope and worry He exhibited that He was firmly established in the supreme peace, tranquillity and equanimity that arose from His total surrender to the Lord - Oh no! I came to know of it only when Dr T.P. Meenakshisundaram mentioned about this prowess and from my own experience later; but because He was gentle, friendly and moved with us, as if He was one among us, with no airs about His spirituality!"

The non-verbal and seemingly casual gambit of Grace shows that it ss not any miracle, but Bhagavan's subtle benedictory charm that attracted Shri Ramanujachari. Infinite compassion, absolute altruism and spontaneous, all-embracing love without attachment, and the presence that disseminated peace and imparted solace are some aspects of this charm. In the years that followed, the divine bond between the two rapidly grew stronger. There were occasions on which the Master had virtually sent for Shri Ramanujachari, when his visits became few and far between owing to pressure of work. A Guru's work being basically on the soul of the devotee, we naturally tend to admire the quality of the soul that is sent for.
