Mes expériences avec le Maître

My experiences with the Master
Shri K.V. Viswanathan

(in Saranagatam, Mai 2014)

Though I have not much to claim, I got such everlasting, enthralling experiences by the Grace of Master. All happens by "Masters will" alone.

The very first idea of meeting Master and thereby enjoying the 'Bliss of Master's Grace' is nothing but my good fortune. The Saints, who are the well wishers of mankind, utilise human beings to serve the cause of Almighty. Such was my case. In fact it is really strange that even in official work Master's Will is always predominant. In the case of a Gazetted Officer, the concerned departmental Chief does the postings. But the saints who know the womb of time, at times intervene in the case of devotees to fulfil the "Will of God". We are mere tools just like chess coins in their hands in the game of life. The same happened with me also.

Another Saint with whom I have the rare privilege of association, one day asked me "where do you want posting as you are to be shifted soon." In my enthusiasm I requested posting to the place where my family was staying or to the place nearby that of the Saint. Then he asked me, "Won't you go to any other place?" I replied that I was asked to express my desire so I did it, but I have to go where my benefactor wishes. I was told that I should go and join at Tiruvannamalai to fulfil a Mission. In fact, in the official circle I was about to be posted in a distant place.

I joined in the new station as Division Officer in-charge of 9 Panchayat Development Blocks. I never thought that I was to meet my Master, but God willed so.

Before joining duty, on the previous evening I was taken to Sri Arunachaleswara Temple by my friend. Just on entering the Tower Gate my friend told me that Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar, a great living Saint is standing before us. I just touched the Lotus Feet of Sri Swamiji. The very touch and the very look, the smile all so very meaningful capable of communicating and self expressive that even well thought out words would be quite inadequate to express my feelings. When the Saint heard my name, I was asked, whether I was the same person who has translated the Tamil Book of Sri Periyavar Ramamurthy of Krishnagiri, which Swamiji happened to see at another devotee's room. I just nodded. Sri Swamiji then said that the translation of the book entitled "ANMA PAHAIYIL ENNA VAARCHI" done by me was good. I thanked Sri Swamiji for the compliment. That was our first meeting.

I met Sri Swamiji at his residence. It was really a pilgrimage to go there and sit in His Presence. I had the good fortune to go there almost on all days while I was at the Head Quarters and get His Blessings. I made it a duty to go and sit at the Lotus Feet of the Great Master.

One day I casually asked Sri Swamiji's permission to bring some food for one time. Sri Swamiji was kind enough to accept it, but with a condition: The condition was, that my wife or family members alone should cook the food and bring it and not any other person. I gladly accepted the same and requested my wife to prepare some chappathi with dhall as a side dish and brought it and we were all much pleased since our humble offerings were accepted and thereby Swamiji Blessed us.

Then I made it a point to bring food the next day morning and everyday thereafter. After to days Sri Swamiji asked, "Oh! This beggar thought you will bring food for only one day. But now you want me to accept it daily and that too for two times a day. All right, It is my Father's Wish. You can bring food till you desire." Thus I got a golden opportunity to serve Biksha to a great Living Saint thereby elevating and enriching myself physically mentally and spiritually, a rare privilege one could ever dream of.

In this connection I have to mention here that the acceptance of Biksha by Sri Swamiji cannot be taken as a matter of course. At times, Sri Swamiji would never touch the food kept and only if anyone nearby reminded Him it would be taken. Even then something would be left behind to be eaten by the faithful dog, "Sai Baba" Sri Swamiji had with him for a long time.

There were occasions when Sri Swamiji has returned the food carried by my two daughters who were studying in the nearby High School. Sri Swamiji would simply touch the food and ask my daughters to take it home to be distributed to us. They used to come and cry that Sri Swamiji had not eaten anything. We would console them by saying that the Biksha has been accepted and blessed. That was a great thing.

At times there might be delay in sending back my daughters who had to attend their classes by 9.00 A.M. On such occasions even the regular classes would commence only late as if to wait for my children. It was all due to the Blessings of Sri Swamiji that even in small things such as attending school in time my daughters were helped.

On one occasion when a devotee requested them to accept the food offered, he remarked that if the same is placed before Sri Swamiji's photo that will be accepted without any doubt. Anything offered with "Sraddha" or sincerity would be accepted irrespective of distance and time. This reminds me of Lord Krishna's utterance in Geetha, "Pathram, pushpam, Palam, Thoyam yo may Bkathiya Prayachathi, thadaham…" It is the spirit with which the work is done and not the utter or superficial show.

Sri Swamiji who lived for some time in Kerala is fond of "Kanji" made of rice gruel. We used to serve this in the night and it would be a pleasant sight to see Sri Swamiji drink the same in His coconut shell. This filled our mind with satisfaction as well as pleasure to see that our offerings were accepted however small it was. It as like "Sudama" (Kuchelar) offering "Aval" (beaten rice) to Lord Krishna.

We cannot say Sri Swamiji would accept every time. Once I offered "Pongal" on the auspicious day. Sri Swamiji had gone somewhere. So I was speaking with a friend in the neighbourhood. Sri Swamiji who saw me there got furious without any reason and said," you can take back the same." But in my utter helplessness I simply cried and Sri Swamiji who took pity on me accepted the food. At times when we disturb his mental disposition Sri Swamiji would act as if affected and scold one but it was all just for a second. He would compose himself and console us.

Sri Swamiji's guidance and help in my daily official life at Tiruvannamalai was quite remarkable.

Before starting my official work I made it a point to meet Sri Swamiji to get DIVINE BLESSINGS to carry out the national cause. I cannot say I succeeded every time. Most of the tie Sri Swamiji would be preoccupied with one problem or other of the devotees or of the nation. On such occasions it would be very difficult even to have Darshan. All depended upon our luck to have the Darshan.

When I went to Sri Swamiji in the morning, He would ask me, "Anything special?" If I had any problem I used to explain it and the reply would be simple but impregnated with DIVINE GRACE. The words, "Father is with you or Father will guide you" are cent per cent correct. All official problems however difficult or complicated were solved in a miraculous way, which could not be explained or reasoned by any one. One would wonder what earthly use we get just by telling this to such HOLY MEN, when it has to be solved either by officials or political persons. But only persons who know the truth or experience of a living saint could sound the depth of this. As mentioned earlier in another context even the official postings are influenced by "DIVINE GRACE."

During the "Small Savings" drive or the settlement of audit objections, or Hon. Minister's visit I would simply pray for the Blessings. The result obtained would be spectacular. In this Panchayat Development Division during my period the result achieved was really commendable as per the official inspection report. It is all because of the DIVINE GRACE.

For the "Small Savings Drive, Sri Swamiji would give me Re. 1/ saying it was, "This beggar's contribution for the National cause." By such act of kindness I had surpassed the target in the division. All by DIVINE GRACE.

As for the settlement of Audit Objections, which were long pending, it was a real headache to the officers at any level. It was due to the fact that the relevant records might have been lost or destroyed due to passage of time or misplaced never to see the light of day. Even such objections were settled by DIVINE GRACE to the astonishment of the auditors. The settlement of local fund audit as well as Accountant General Section was to the tune of 98 % a figure never dreamt of in the annals of the history of that division. All due to Master's Grace.

A most important achievement that happened during my period in the division was the accomplishment of target given under "Integrated Rural Development Programme" - a new scheme introduced but the Government of India. Tiruvannamalai was also one of the selected areas among the few for the implementation of the programme. As usual I prepared the schemes and published in the shape of booklets in bound volumes. I placed the booklet before Sri Swamiji for getting His Divine Blessings. Sri Swamiji just placed His stretched palm over the bundle saying, "YOUR DIVISION WILL STAND FIRST IN THE STATE." "Father will help you to do this." But to the astonishment of all, Tiruvannamalai stood as Third in the nation - the greatest honour any Government official could dream of. All by the DIVINE GRACE. Great men like my Master help those who are engaged in the Nation Building Activities.

At this juncture I have to make a special mention about an important aspect which is really a great feat even according to departmental people.

Of the various schemes there was one item as "Supply of Milch Animals" to selected beneficiaries under Animal Husbandry Schemes. For this, the Central Co-operative Bank Vellore had to sanction loan to the beneficiaries in the scattered villages through their village units. This is a vast cumbersome and long drawn process. The beneficiary should prepare a loan application after observing all formalities like the production of revenue records elating to land to be mortgaged the production of Encumbrance Certificate for 13 years getting it from concerned sub-registrar's office. He has to produce a surety who has no encumbrance or over-due, etc., to satisfy the Co-operative Bank Rules. These applications have to be accorded individual sanction at the village level and then by the concerned union level and finally by the Special Officer (then) of Co-operative Central Bank of District at Vellore. Even as per the normal practice it would take a month to sanction one loan. I had to get sanction for 106 such applications and that too within 24 hours. A great task indeed. That MIRACLE did happen. All the application forms from the village level reached the District Bank the very same night after observing all the formalities as per department and bank norms. The 106 loans were sanctioned by the Special Officer and he gave us a DD for Rs. 1,06,000/- a huge sum indeed. It was handed over to the Animal Husbandry Director who deputed a special department man to Haryana in North India to get the required number of 105 cows. Only the GRACE OF OUR MASTER could do all this.

The Assistant Secretary of the District Co-operative Bank Vellore, Sri Viswanathan, who met Sri Swamiji, informed that such an episode never happened in the annals or the Co-operative department. The same officer was an eyewitness to all the proceedings involved from the village level to the district level and so he could not believe his own achievement. He was spell bound on the completion of this process.

On hearing the above account as narrated by the Co-operative Bank Official Sri Swamiji laughed loudly in His own inimitable manner saying, "ALL FATHER'S LILA." Father does everything for the sake of devotees.

- to be continued.
